Let’s Hablo Taco.

What’s more natural than two gringos opening a Mexican restaurant? Neither speak a lick of Spanish, nor do they have any Latin blood whatsoever. For our long time clients and friends Mark and Guy, it’s pretty spot on. They’re the brilliant minds behind Splitsville, a bowling and dining concept that’s spreading like wild fire – and an awesome project that we helped develop. They know the restaurant and entertainment business better than anyone. So when they came to us to talk tacos, we were all over it.

Tampa’s Channelside has been hungry for something new for quite some time. They saw an opportunity for a Mexican restaurant; one that would feature premium ingredients, top shelf tequila, a make-on-the-spot guacamole station and a great pre and post Lightning game atmosphere. It would go in the former Tinatapa’s location and get a fresh look and brand experience with our help.

To play up the “two Americans serving authentic Mexican food” story, we named the restaurant Hablo Taco. This Spanglish language carried through to messaging across the walls, menus and promo materials. We hired a line drawing artist to create custom pieces that incorporated food, beverage and cultural elements to continue the playful vibe. The place looks great, business is up and the food is really good. Our Spanish however, different story.
